My top Ghanaian artistes in 2024 (led by their hit songs)- #MusicWeDeyFeel

It's been a while since I did this. I figure I should do this before the next Ghana Music Awards :-) Ekow Fisho posted on Facebook asking "Your favorite song to listen to this year was ….." I posted a non-Ghanaian song (I would leave you to guess that). I attended the #MQF DMV End-Of-Year Soiree last weekend. I then told Fisho that my top Ghanaian song of choice for 2024 was "Sisi Fiaa". This and some other songs have been living Rent Free in my head in 2024.

Before we get into this, see a list from 15 years ago when I also spent some good time in the DMV area. Here are the starting eleven songs, in no particular order or formation. #MusicWeDeyFeel indeed.

Defe Defe by Team Eternity Ghana ft Naana Asiedu
I am blogging this on a Sunday. It started trending and you could not pass anywhere without hearing about this song. I said I would listen to more gospel this year and this jam defeated all the others.

Lomo Lomo by Kidi feat Black Sherif
Do you know the dance? I was out of Ghana for a couple of weeks in April and when I returned, it was Lomo Lomo all over. I like the part that says "Naa, Naa" lol.

Broken Heart by DJ Vyrusky, Kuami Eugene
Released 2023 this carried over so well. It was nice to break into this dance at Barcamp after-parties.
DJ Vyrusky has been massive in the last couple of years. Follow Who Know Road makes me think about the road trips we made this year to Barcamps. I just thought about the accident, sigh. Anyway, enjoy this one.

M'akoma by King Paluta
King Paluta Singing! We seemed to start 2024 with Aseda and then ended with Apicki (Popping). But "Sisi fea".
Here are some selected lyrics.
Ɔwɔ sisi fea no bi
Checki no personality
Na sɛ mene no nam aa ɔmo se
M'ayɛ kuntann
Na ɔmo se
Woama m'akoma anyɛ me ya
Hwɛ pɛ a m'apɛ bi mennya
Ɛyɛ me dɛ o
Ɔdɔ papa bi a m'anya

Really nice music video too.

Jejereje by Stonebwoy ft Ginton
"I want problems always". Naano eee, na ɔkɔ fa baɛ o, ɔnoaa ne jejereje. Stonebwoy brought this song and we were like "what?!" Artiste of the year, fully deserved. Other hit tracks were Ekelebe, Overlord, Psalm 23, etc.

Very Soon by Fameye
One fateful night in November, I went out chilling in Accra. This song was everywhere. "Heaven na mewɔ no, right here, awɔ de me o". I was singing "Very soon, you go pop champagne, ah, ebaa daama, oh, Machille ara aah ma awɔ de me o". I am blogging this from Maryland, USA where it has been colder than usual for me.

Asabone by Dope Nation
Zormizor! Zor mi zor! Asabone means bad, sexy, lustful dancing. But watch this video featuring . Is that what you see? Agado did wonders for this song.

Paris by King Promise
I just thought of Akufo Addo. Ah well. King Promise continued his hot streak from Terminator into 2024 and this song for me was his top jam. I was telling someone this weekend, that the mentions of "Let me know if I embarrass you with my money" reeked of Nigerian Afrobeat songs. He also had Continental, Favorite Story, etc.

Fly Girl by Beeztrap KOTM ft Oseikrom Sikanii
I love to participate in karaokes, a lot. I am trying to ensure I have enjoyed karaoke in every major town in Ghana. One time at a karaoke for a Barcamp after-party, Herbert Acheampong requested to
sing this song. I didn't know it was such a hit. It is. Check out Yesu too.

Belinda by Kuami Eugene
Ladies and gentlemen, the Rockstar has to feature. After all, he released this video in 2024 - Yen Ara Asaase Ni. I heard this song also at the #MQFDMV2024Soiree. From Angela to Monica to Belinda, hmmm, Kuami. He also had sone like Canopy, Problem, Abena, etc.

The Doing of the Lord by Diana Hamilton ft. Mercy Chinwo
Back where we started. Diana Hamilton was in recent years the Artiste of the Year in Ghana. This is a huge collabo. Join me and my family, friends and all to thank the Lord for a great 2024.

Plenty honorable mentions dey. Kwen Kwen by Nacee. It got to the top of the Apple Music Charts after the elections. What are your honorable mentions? Mention them in the comments.
