One of the KIC Fellows, Hannah Dorkenu , reached out to me earlier in 2025, wanting to interview me for her research. It explores how research and data services can better support agribusinesses in Ghana . She is a final-year Master of Development Practice student at UC Berkeley, California. That area is close to my old stomping grounds of Stanford but it can feel as far as the farm gate . Hannah was trying to find out how research and data services can support agribusinesses in Ghana to make more strategic, evidence-based decisions. It would not stop there, the findings would form the design of a practical research support service. The  +GhanaThink Foundation  was born through the activity of Ghanaians in the Diaspora. Since the  +Barcamp Ghana  movement took off in earnest in Ghana, most of GhanaThink's engagement has been in Ghana. The very second Barcamp done by our group was Barcamp Diaspora in DC in July 2009.  +Diaspora Camp  DC followed in July 2010 and that has been the last one. "Agriculture covers 60% of the workforce in Ghana". We heard this many times while growing up. Agriculture was and is extremely important in Ghana and we had and still have mostly an agrarian economy.
