Recapping CITI's FM December to Remember Concert with tweets

M.Anifest came to do " some way bi " things. Footprintz paved the way for Bisa Kdei as they joined to do ' Jackie Appiah '. Bisa then showed us Azonto would live even after it dies with Azonto Ghost, notwithstanding Metanfo and that everywhere he is, it's an Azonto Fiesta , so just ' Give it to Baba '. The international fisherman , Gasmilla, came in with a canoe to do Aboodatoi and take his 3 points . Guru came and put on a show without DJ LiWin , performing Lapaz Toyota , Mmaakuo, etc and doing the Alkhayida dance and all. Boys abrɛ ! Yea, I had missed some great performances. But I wasn't going to miss the whole December to Remember concert organized by +Citi97.3FM . It was around this time, that I settled into my seat and then started tweeting and dancing away. Enjoy reliving the experience. So you made to December to Remember #d2r2013 , well done. If you're lost for where else to go this xmas, follow @PartyCrewGH . #partycrewgh — Ato Ulz...

A very eventful day riding on the wheels of National Volunteer Day 2025

Image
One major question we ask in the intro format at Konnect meetups focused on #Volunteeringh is: " When did you last volunteer to help others and how? " My answer is normally: " Yesterday, or today, I gave someone a free ride ". Basically, I stop the #vimride at a stop, asked folks where they were going, and if they were going my direction, I politely asked to give them a free ride, and if they accepted, I did the needful. " Are you not afraid? " No . I do this as carefully as I can. If you are afraid for me, pray for me. Thank You . As I do each year, I spent National Volunteer Day giving free rides.  National Volunteer Day ( NVDay ) is a GhanaThink Foundation initiative, launched on September 21, 2013 , to promote volunteerism in Ghana and connect volunteers with opportunities. It is linked to Ghana's Founders' Day holiday and aims to encourage citizens to volunteer for community service and skill development. The day is part of GhanaThink...

December to Remember concert - Twitter the revisitor

I was supposed to be singing " Obi nka s ɛ  24th k ɔ  wo kurom " on December 24th as I made my way towards Kumasi to spend the holidays. However, I spent a little too much time working earlier that day that by the time I was going to head to Kumasi, it was a bit too late. That's when I made the decision to go to  +Citi97.3FM 's December to Remember concert - #D2R2013 . I sought a ticket and then got one. I was exhausted for reasons I can't remember that evening so I took a nap. I woke up and spent more time blogging. It wasn't until I heard  +M.anifest  had gotten onto the stage that I proceeded to go to the Accra International Conference Centre more seriously. I picked up a friend of  +Seyram Freddy Ahiabor 's, himself and some short bread for  +yorm ackuaku  and we were headed to #D2R. We arrived and were welcomed by +Mawuli Tsikata  who handed me a ticket and  +Donald Ward  who handed Seyram one. "Tweet plenty and write a ...

Cultivating and counting my blessings through free rides, etc

On Friday, August 16, 2024 , I went to drop off a family friend, Sheila , at her place in Dansoman after having dinner in Osu. She did her Masters' degree in India (a country I would love to visit). She told me a lot about India which was consistent with what I have heard. She also mentioned how Christians were a minority there ( Hello Captain Obvious ) and how she engaged in her religion while in India. This blog post is about what happened after I dropped her off, it is about religion. My religion is  Christianity . 😇It's the most popular religion in Ghana , where I am from, was bred, live and care a lot about. While trying to navigate from Dansoman to go visit my sister's family in Amasaman, I decided to give some free rides like I normally do. I stopped at a bus stop somehwere in DC, mind you, I do not know Dansoman well, at all! I spoke to 2 ladies and a guy who seemed to be waiting for a trotro and asked them where they are going and if I could give them a ride. I t...

Ghana National Youth Achievers Awards 2012 - The Winners

Image
The very first  Ghana National Youth Achievers Awards (NYAA)  were held under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama on October 25 this year. Congratulations to all the winners, some of which I am proud to know personally. I already reacted to the whole NYAA, but let's dig into the winners proper. Because just giving you the list is boring. If you wanna learn some more, say #morevim! Sarkodie and Becca won for Music. BET Award wins, Channel O nominations, Museke Awards wins, they deserved it. Jackie Appiah won for Performing Arts, she's not the fairest Ghanaian, so she must be doing very well as an actress because of her acting skills :-p. She's still cute too, those IPMC billboards do her some good justice. Jackie's best ever casting was in The Perfect Picture , arguably one of Ghana's best ever movies. The director of that movie, Shirley Frimpong-Manso won for film.  The Fashion winner is surprising as it is refreshing, Fred Deegbe's Heel the...

Twitter's gone public? I've been public with it since October 2008

Twitter went public this week . As in, they priced their IPO, at $26 a share too. A day later, it became evident that they underestimated their worth. Hey, many people underestimated Twitter too when it first came out. It took a while to grow quickly, it was helped by a couple of events, first at South by SouthWest Interactive conference . Turns out they had Twitter on screens at the conference. More on this in a later blog post. Congrats to Twitter, it has replaced Facebook as my social network of choice. Like 2.33 years ago. Twitter has mattered in many lives, especially mine, for a long time. The first time I really saw Twitter in action a lot was when I attended Barcamp Africa at the Googleplex in Mountain View on October 11, 2008. So right after the event, after seeing the power of what it could do, I created my Twitter account and tweeted this. I just had to go look for my first tweet and tweets :-) excited to join the twitter community! — Ato Ulzen-Appiah (@Abocco) Octobe...
