Barcamp Sunyani 2013 is here this Saturday! #bcsyi

 I've started losing count of how many Barcamps we've done in Ghana. The most recent one, +Barcamp Ho was the 25th one held in 2008 as part of the +Barcamp Ghana project by the +GhanaThink Foundation. And we just keep on going. This Saturday, I'd be in arguably the most likeable town (to me) in Ghana - Sunyani. Join me at +Barcamp Sunyani and let's energize our resource base to act. +Barcamp Sunyani is happening at the new University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani.

See the press release below. Barcamp Sunyani 2013 is a free networking forum bringing people together for a day of discussion, demos and dialogue on Sunyani, Ghana and beyond. It will take place on November 9, 2013 at the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani. The theme for this year is the "Energizing our resource base to act". This Barcamp hopes to assemble stakeholders to network, build a supportive enterprising community and partner to build together.

The GhanaThink Foundation has successfully organized 25 BarCamps in Ghana. BarCamp Sunyani 2013 will be a showcase of how Ghana’s youth are taking charge of its development and how they can be spurred on to do more. There will be a focus on channeling the present energies around entertainment into positive developments and progress for Sunyani and surrounding areas as well.

The Barcamp will feature multiple user-generated breakout sessions about business, social entrepreneurship, technology and development, alongside topics relevant to the Brong-Ahafo Region and beyond. There will be a speed mentoring session where mentors will give insights and answers to questions from attendees. Various Sunyani leaders will be on a panel that will center on the theme.

Introducing REACH-Ghana on the occasion of World AIDS day

I was notified about the website for REACH-Ghana today and I must say I am impressed with how far this organization has come in the last 4 months following BarCamp Diaspora at JHU-SAIS in Washington, DC. A few young passionate Ghanaians with interest in the health sector came together after a healthcare breakout session during July's BarCamp Diaspora and started investigating how they could contribute to Ghana's health sector. Their enthusiasm has given birth to Representatives for Equal Access to Community Health-care (Ghana). I love the use of the Adinkra symbol in the REACH logo. After my previous experience with Kasahorow, Museke & GhanaThink, I am a big fan of incorporating Ghanaian symbols in every way. REACH's logo uses the Adinkra symbol "Boa Me Na Menboa Wo" (Help me to help you), which represents cooperation, interdependence and community. Learnt how to say "Happy birthday" in 13 African languages

Today is my birthday. For all of you who've been wishing me Happy Birthday, I will like to say Thank you in these 23+ African languages and in these 16+ non-African languages . I asked my friends for how to say Happy Birthday in African languages. Some exist. Now you can wish birthday celebrants in an African language. With some help from  my African friends , we have a list to work with. I wish I could get to 30 but I've tried ahh.  Akan: Mema wo awoda pa. Mema wo awoda mu anigye.    You have another version?
