I am a social animal . I love partying and partying hard. It must have something to do with liking to hang out with people and loving listening to music. I party with different crews and cliques. My regular partying crew had been chilling for a while and then because we are people who just like to get things done took the partying more seriously. So PartyCrew GH was formed. Still not sure what we are doing with it, we have many grand ideas actually. I also promised myself to party less this year. Actually club less, party more . Anyway, I wanted to share a few tweets chronicling my party story for this year so far and the places I've been. Pick up a few places to visit when you're there. And we have a  Facebook page , a  Twitter account  and a  +Party Crew  Google+ page. Like, follow and add it. You'd find party pleasure if you've lost it. Next time, someone says they are lost in Accra (or elsewhere in Ghana) as to where to party, tell them to follo...

Hanging with Naija babes in Accra

I have decided to party less in 2013. So after partying on Friday night , I was sure to spend Saturday night at home. Especially, if I would have light at home. But after being visited by Nii, Obinna, Stephen and Ali , I entertained second thoughts. While writing one blog post , I received a call around 9:30pm from a friend, Brian , inviting me to a house party. After missing the few hours of last night’s house party, I was keen on this one. A couple of friends were not responsive and some others wanted to stay in, but I decided to honour Brian’s invitation. Because the last time I attended one of his parties, I ended up drinking Vimto and meeting Francophone women who would make you say “ Oh la la ”. When I arrived at the AU Village, the ‘gateman’ directed me to Brian’s. " You will see a place with many cars packed ". Fair enough. I had seen a Asian-looking lady walking down the road and asked her “ Are you going to Brian’s place? ” “ Sorry, I don’t know Brian ”. Like to...

A story of picking up "Dressed to Kill" women in Accra

Image
After watching House of Gold with my sister on Friday at its premiere in the National Theatre amidst many “dressed to kill” women, I set out to meet and party amongst some of them in Accra. My friend Nii had told me about a house party in Labone but I couldn’t go there right after the movie premiere because my sister wanted some food. When I had dropped off my sister at her place, I received word that the house party was ending and so we had to change location. What happened after is a diary entry . Here it is. I met Nii and Seyram and we headed to BellaRoma. True to form, the bouncer said we had to pay 20 GhC before entering. I have set a “ no paying cover for as much as possible for clubs ” in general so I wasn’t buying that. After seeing a couple of people enter for free, I asked the bouncer why I had to pay. Of course, he had no answers for me. Because if he was in my shoes, he wouldn’t want to hear whichever nonsense he would have been spewing out. Nii had already been at ...

A Francophone (French) weekend in Accra

Image
You might have read about my previous blog post about watching the popular Ivorian movie " Le Mec Ideal ".  The Accra Francophone Film Festival ended today and I saw 3 full-length movies and a short film as part of it. Apparently, the last week has also seen the Festival de la Francophonie happen in Accra courtesy of Alliance Francaise. But if I didn't know this particular weekend was going to be a French weekend . It just kinda happened. Allow me to explain :-) When I showed up to get my social media teacher hat on at the West Legon location, the friend who had invited me told me the students were mostly Francophone. " Be careful of what you say so they might understand you well ". After greeting the class with " Bonjour " and going through some Facebook tips, I asked the students if I had spoken too fast. They had followed my speech and teaching well so that would not be a problem. But that made me wonder, do Francophones hear Anglophones spe...

I go party and some African chics do me Antenna!

This is the umpteenth time I've started writing a post on Facebook and then I realise this post is too long, I might as well put it in a blog post. And almost every single time, it's a true story. I love writing these types of blog posts. Citizen journalism lol. Original content ;-) This post is about women - juicy. So, my MIT buddy Tawanda was in town visiting Accra while doing some work for McKinsey in Togo. I went out this past Saturday night to Monsoon (I'd never been there before) to meet him and saw my Odadee colleague Yaw  too who's also at McKinsey. We had some good convos, I caught up with Tawanda, we talked "women". We disagreed on whether folks should talk to their exes. I maintained that I wouldn't want the situation whereby me and my ex (or anyone for that matter) were not on talking terms. Not me ze Mighty African. When I was leaving Monsoon to go meet my Stanford buddy Ken who was also in town, some dude asked me where I was "goin...
