June is Junior Camp Ghana month

The Junior Camp Ghana program organizes career guidance and mentoring events at high schools. It started in 2013 with a focus on senior high schools with 4 events. Keta Technical Senior High School got us started on January 30, with Kalpohin Senior High School continuing on July 13. St. Augustine's College had its turn on July 27 while the team partnered with the +Ahaspora Ghana Young Professionals to organize one for senior high school students in Accra on December 30. This program's essence can be captured in one statement - Living Tomorrow's Career Today. We want high school students to focus on building skills and talents that will allow them to succeed in multiple places they find themselves. It's important to be career-oriented and skilled to fit in many spheres rather than just focusing on being mostly a doctor, engineer, lawyer , banker, etc.

June is +Junior Camp Ghana month. Most high schools are in session this month and it's an opportune time to have Junior Camps. Currently, the program focuses on schools that show serious interest in hosting these events than pursuing every other school. The best working scenarios are where teachers or other strong contacts for these schools are in the +GhanaThink Foundation network and secure events in the schools.

With the support of the BarCamp Kumasi team, especially +Christian Junior Worgbah, the first event this month is in collaboration with ArmedForces SHS, Kumasi - "Junior Camp Armesco". This is on June 7, this Saturday from 10am to 2:33pm on the school's premises. The various courses offered at Armed Forces Senior High School are Visual Arts, General Arts, Science, Technical and Home Economics. This Junior Camp will expose students to different careers, inform them and focus them on building skills. Register to mentor via http://bit.ly/1nuRkAi

Similarly, +Wilson Seyram Ameamu is leading the engagement at St. Augustine College together with the support of the BarCamp Cape Coast team. The second "Junior Camp Augusco" happens on Saturday 14 June, 2014. This programme aims at guiding students in their career choices through mentoring. The various courses offered at St. Augustine's are Science, General Arts, Business and Agriculture. Register to mentor at "Junior Camp Augusco" - bit.ly/1jRVn1a

+Dominic Hotor, a member of the +Barcamp Cape Coast previously while at UCC, is currently a National Service personnel teaching at Krobo Girls SHS. With the support of the +Barcamp Koforidua team, "Junior Camp Krogiss" happens on Saturday 21st June 2014. Courses offered at Krogiss are General Arts, Science, Business, Home Economics and Visual Arts. If you are available to mentor on 21st June 2014 at the Krobo Girls SHS, sign up via http://bit.ly/TU
