#MusicWeDeyFeel: All-time Favorites, including these from Okyeame Kwame

I met Kwame Nsiah-Apau and interviewed him in 2008. I came away very impressed. He was working towards his Bachelor's Degree at KNUST. Really smart dude. Time has proven that he is a really smart dude. Growing up in Ghana, we say the smartest folks become the doctors. He calls himself the Rap Doctor.

He helped popularize Wear Ghana and has become one of our best #MadeInGhana ambassadors. More on this later.

He and Okyeame Quophi helped popularize hiplife through Akyeame, one of the first great duos. His successful solo career took hiplife to another level. Mesan Aba is one of my all-time favorites, and his rap on this track is legendary. Word play be what. However, we're talking about his solo hits. He called himself the best rapper alive. I started this series with Obrafour and ended with Okyeame Kwame, it's apt - they have some small history together. I think Okyeame Kwame challenges him for best Ghanaian lyricist ever. Let's listen to the music.

Woso (2009)
This song catapulted Okyeame to the top of the charts.

Did you shake?

Yeeko (2012)
You might know that Okyeame Kwame is from Kumasi. Or was one of the first hiplife musicians to really emerge from Kumasi. We discussed this when I interviewed him. He eventually moved to Accra, but he is Siano through and through. So when the Kumerica rave started, he had to do something around it. And yes, he did. Releasing this banger with Kuami Eugene.

After him, followed Bradez (his brothers) and then Flowking Stone. Kumerica - Asakaa - drill music - put Kumasi music firmly on the map. You cannot discuss that without talking about Yeeko. And the video. The way it was shot, where it was shot, who is in the shot, legendary.

Made in Ghana (2018)
Easy choice for me right? Right. In fact, the whole Made in Ghana album. But this song is beautiful. It talks about Ghana, different parts of Ghana, what is typically Ghana, what Ghana needs to do. It packs so much in one song. Kidi shined on this too.

I hope you enjoyed it a little more and you would put this on repeat like I do.

Honorable Mentions: Love Locked Down, Small Small, Mate Ahwe Ne Do Mu, Sika, Bra, Woara, Faithful, Come Home, Anaa, Opabeni, Mr Versatile, etc
