The Young African Leaders who will be meeting Barack Obama

From August 3-5, American President Barack Obama will engage with 115 young leaders from 47 nations of sub-Saharan Africa at his Forum with Young African Leaders. The Forum is an opportunity for the participants to engage with each other, their American counterparts, and U.S. government officials on key themes of youth empowerment, good governance, and economic opportunity. North Africa will not be represented, which is cause for another debate that my friend MBA has already started here. Major props to the Obama administration for putting this together.

Learn more about the breakout/forum/summit/camp here. I'll be following through Twitter #youngafrica. Yay, for Obama and his folks using Twitter. Isn't that why we love Hussein anyway? Yes, we can.

What I really wanted to share with you was the list of young African leaders? First off, I was so surprised I didn't know about this till last week. A whole me! :-) A friend, Mac-Jordan, even asked on Twitter if we knew of any of the attendees. I didn't. But I now know. In fact, I know all. And they are not the kind of young Africans I was thinking about. They are all on the continent though. Some of them are pretty famous. They hold some really nice positions too. How were they chosen? Your guess is as good as mine. How many are under 30 years old? That's what I want to know. Maybe you can tell me, because I only know two/three of them. Hey, a few more young bright Africans to add to my network abi? Twende.

on the real though, it seems all these folks are awesome people. now, we should all go google them. If they are not on google, whoever knows them should get them on there.

Sorry, I didn't mean to say google. I meant to say search one time and then internet the other.

This is very informative. Thank you for sharing. I didn't know about this until I read it here. It would be interesting to find out who the participants are and how they were chosen. Is Twitter the only way to follow this forum or are there other avenues?
