On September 21, many people in Ghana participated in volunteer activities to make Ghana better. We at the +GhanaThink Foundation had a simple idea: what if many people in Ghana came together on one day to volunteer in Ghana and make Ghana better? The idea was to choose Founder's Day to make great use of the holiday and also honour our founding fathers (especially Kwame Nkrumah). The idea became National Volunteer Day. A team was created made up of +Ela Asare Nana Akosua Ofosuhene +Ali Bukari Maiga +Felix Nartey +krystabel vorsah and yours truly. +Kobe Subramaniam & +David Abbey-Thompson helped with the various images to push the campaign. The hashtag #NVDay was born. After thinking and working through many iterations, we settled on conscientizing many people in Ghana to organize volunteer activities. 56 activities were registered, you can see all of those here. We are still collating and collecting information to confirm how many volunteer activities actually happened on September 21. You can check out many photos from the day's events on the Google+ event by +GhanaThink Foundation.
We are a hub for volunteer activities in Ghana. A @GhanaThink initiative. Born out of the success of the 1st National Volunteer Day #nvday.

Today, the Ghana Volunteer Program is being launched as part of activities to mark International Volunteer Day. You can find the program on Google+, Twitter and Facebook. It shall also be affectionately called VolunteerinGH. The folks at +Sygil Media volunteered to create a website for NVDay as well. It's at http://volunteeringh.wordpress.com/ and would be our website as we build this program. We'd leave you with some tweets announcing the Program and giving you information and links of how to find what happened on September 21 proper.
